The Scientist and the Propagandist: Will Truth ever Prevail?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Yesterday I wrote an article on the far-left fraud machine, which pointed out that a UK judge ruled Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” was politically biased, and was not supported by scientific consensus. Today, Al Gore won the Nobel peace prize along with the UN International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It is always nice and fair to give credit where it is due, and to that end, congratulations Mr. Gore, and to the rest of the unnamed “panel” people.

Essentially the war on climate change has taken two fronts: the scientific front, which has been led by the IPCC, and the political front, which has been led by Al Gore. It has not mattered a great deal to climate change activists that the parties in these two fronts have been so separated in their information and facts, because each party has served its role. The scientific community has proven that global warming exists, and Al Gore has done his job of spreading the message across (the world?) the United States.

I have often talked to Al Gore fans about why they love him so much. I point out that he spreads lies and deceit, that average people know that, and that this diminishes the real message. They point out that it does not matter that his message is not factual, because he does the job of spreading a message which is known to be true, and he has done more for the cause of global warming than perhaps anyone. I often find this argument to be unsatisfactory, but apparently the Nobel Prize committee does not.

I have always advocated for truth, but truth doesn’t always seem to be the most important thing to everyone. My own impression is that the IPCC are the real leaders in the war on climate change. These are the hard-working folks who have dedicated their lives and souls to establishing scientific truth in the face of adversity. It has taken decades for them to establish their scientific findings. Al Gore on the other hand, never blinked or thought about global warming until recently, where he then used his celebrity status to make a false documentary. Somehow, Al Gore ends up being the only named individual on the prize.

While I began the article by congratulating Mr. Gore, I will end it by saying that he doesn’t deserve it. The IPCC deserves it, not Al Gore. It is a sad day for truth, when two advocates for a cause are given an award, and the propagandist takes center stage, while the hard-working men and women who have truly dedicated their lives to the cause are simply referred to as the “panel.” I’m sure they are happy, but as a researcher myself who knows what the 16 hour days and sleepless nights are like, I know that are hurt inside. Al Gore makes movies and speeches and rolls in tons of cash for his propaganda campaign. The scientists working for the cause sacrifice leisure, personal relationships, and mental well-being, only in the end to be referred to as the “panel.” Truth and propaganda have been at war longer than people have. In the long run, truth has always won, but today, it suffers a sad, sad defeat.

Columbia and the Iranian Dictator

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

If a conversation between Lee Bollinger and I were to ever transpire, it might read a bit like this: “Mr. Bollinger, you resemble all the signs of a petty a cruel academic dictator. You are a chalk-sniffing dork, who consistently reminds the world of how utterly dumb really smart people can be. How about you hop off of your high horse and duke it out with me in the streets. That’s right scumbag – I’m challenging you to a street fight, and I’m going to kick your ass.”

If you’re angry at my remarks than go pound sand. It’s my first amendment right, and any attempt for you to say that I’m not allowed to call Mr. Bollinger a dork is a violation of my first amendment right. After all, it’s not like I’m denying the holocaust or anything. By the way, did I mention that slavery actually never happened? Well, maybe it did, but I want more research done on the subject.

Ok, so Lee would likely have some very well thought out responses to such small minded gibberish, coming from a know-nothing like me. He would probably triumph very quickly by reminding me that my remarks are vile, and are highly suspect of hate speech. On the contrary however, isn’t that precisely the sort of speech that ought to win me podium at Columbia?

Again, it’s my first amendment right to say what I want. If I really did want to suggest that slavery never occurred, surely you would want to know why I would ever say something so offensive. I would surely reply (if I was a liberal), “It’s my first amendment right.” Anyone with half a brain would spot this circular reasoning and point out to me that is not a reason.

It is here that we arrive at the real paradox of Columbia’s vile, disgusting and outright degrading decision to invite the world’s biggest anti-Semite to speak in its halls. Bollinger says its because of Columbia’s commitment to free speech and its “almost single-minded commitment to pursue the truth.” But free speech is not a reason, and when you deny the holocaust there is not much truth to be passed around, so what is the real reason?

The real reason is because the students and faculty at Columbia actually like this guy. Not all of them, but a large body of them. They like him because they are in agreement on several key issues. One, America is a terrorist country. Two, American is the evil power in the war on terror, and three, America should not have invaded Iraq. The clever (and pathetically stupid) student body at Columbia thought it would be a slap in the face to the Bush administration, and desired it to be a show of proof that we can communicate with Iran in a productive way, and it was the duty of academia to set our country straight. After all, they are smarter than everyone else in the country.

While it seems everyone has come around to agree that having Ahmadinejad speak was a bad decision, Columbia’s student body and faculty have escaped without showing their cards. Everyone needs to understand that the real reason they invited this lunatic to speak is because in today’s war on terror, America is the enemy, and its up to the academics at Columbia to save the world from its menace.

Quick! Call the U.N.! (I bet they won’t answer)

Its almost 11pm in Venezuela, in about an hour, the oldest and most popular broadcast station in the country will close its doors, because dictator Hugo Chavez refused to renew their license. Turns out, this station supported the failed coup against Chavez in 2002 and its editorial and political views were decidedly anti-Chavez.

Needless to say there are riots in Venezuela, and Chavez and his goons are using force to quell them.

Now, in this country we have a decidedly biased media. Yet, instead of shutting it down, the government simply passes the “bitch about it” buck to bloggers like me, pundits, press secretaries, spin doctors and other B.S. detectors.

Here’s another thing that happens in this country: anytime the government does something that the “mainstream” politicos at the U.N. and the so-called “International Community” don’t like, they stand on their soap box and yell, holler, scream, hold hearings, drown puppies and other things. If President Bush ordered the FCC to shut Air America, NBC, CNN or FoxNews down for making fun of him, disagreeing with him, or for his own amusement, we’d have the U.N., Hugo Chavez in front, yelling at the top of their lungs about what an outrage this is.

Yes, it would be outrageous wouldn’t it?

What I find more outrageous though, is that no one in the “International Community” is holding Hugo Chavez to task for an action that is nothing short of the type of freedom of speech violation that would light a fire up the ACLU’s hind end. The U.N. would rather spend its time trying to fix the unfixable than preserving the rights that their very own Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees to one of their member countries’ citizens.

Guess what they say is right. You can’t spell “Entirely Useless” without “U.N.”

Don’t flatter yourself, Mahmoud

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has decided to “pardon” the 15 British Marines who “trespassed” into Iranian waters.

Last I checked, you had to commit a crime to recieve a “pardon” for a crime. Had these been American Sailors and Marines, I am sure we’d be hearing from the “blame America first” left, about how we’re being unreasonable, and violating the “sovereignty” of Iran.

For the record, let me state that Iran has never provided evidence that these sailors did in fact violate anyone’s territorial waters.

Well, that rant aside, the good news is that the sailors are free, and Iran can go back to being the pain in the neck it usually is.

Iran is Playing Hardball

Monday, March 26th, 2007

By: Nathan D. Fox

Is anyone watching Iran? Did we suddenly forget that there is strong evidence linking Iranian weapons, and possibly Iranian soldiers to the deaths of over 190 Americans in Iraq? Is anyone concerned that 15 British marines and sailors were captured by Iranian forces this past Friday and are still being held? Does this concern anyone that a country whose “political” demonstrations involve men burning the American flag, shooting AK-47s into the air, chanting for the elimination/extermination of Israel and the Israeli people, and burning any western leader in effigy, is now promising to detonate a nuclear weapon in the near future? I hope I am not the only one concerned.

In my opinion, the world is a much better place now that Saddam Hussein is out of power in Iraq, and we are continuously fighting the insurgency. However, Iran is watching our every move. As a bit of history, a lot of Iranians are pretty bent at the United States because Iraq, who was then aided by the US, wiped out a generation of Iranian men in the Iran-Iraq war. This is the main reason that 70% of the Iranian population is under 30 years old. Unfortunately, Iran currently has a lunatic at their helm in President Ahmadinejad. Excuse me for being blunt, but this man is presiding over Iran with a middle finger firmly ensconced in a gesture towards the entire western world. Every possible reasonable request of Iran has been met with rhetoric and promises to build the “big one.” Currently they are holding 15 British soldiers in captivity for allegedly entering into Iranian waters. I am sure those men are being treated with the utmost respect and deference to international law. (Please excuse my sarcasm.)

Unfortunately, John Bolton is one of the few who recognizes the gravity of Iran’s potential. There are exceptions of course in Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity. However, the latter three are engaged in a war in the media, while Bolton was engaged at the UN for 17 months, where he was well known for going against the grain. Thank God someone was. In a recent FOXNews.com story on March 21, 2007, he is currently speaking out against the US government’s weak stances against countries such as Iran and North Korea, who are both desirous of the destruction of the west. Individuals such as Mr. Bolton who are not afraid to call out issues and confront them are what we need in public office; not stuffed shirt blow-hards who are more concerned with keeping themselves in office than their constituents. I will not name names, you can think of a few on your own time.

Unfortunately, our politicians are too wrapped up in more non-binding resolutions to worry or care about the situation. Don’t we pay these guys to legislate binding resolutions? I fear that we are watching our nation decline from superpower status right before our eyes because we are so distracted by non-issues, such as pandering to Al Gore’s global warming theatrics. I would think a global warming guy like Al G. would be really concerned about nations who want to heat up the earth by about 25,000 degrees at a shot using nuclear weapons. Boy would the polar ice caps be in bad shape then! Until we deal with the threats, actual and potential, to our national security, nothing else matters. To be frank, if we all glow in the dark at night, we are not going to be too concerned about global warming (of non-nuclear scale), US Attorneys, Valerie Plame, or much else for that matter. In conclusion, until we actually elect politicians who are of the mindset of John Bolton, who actually are not afraid to speak their mind and recognize danger, we are going to continue to pretend all is well abroad and be confronted with another disaster at home.
