If you believe the Brady Campaign…

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

this man should have:
a) been overrun by his attacker, who would have taken the gun and shot him with it; OR

b) been arrested for gun violence.

Well, according to me, he should be hailed as a hero.

Empty Holsters

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Every so often, abortion groups hand out wire hangers in a form of awareness protest for their cause.

Gay groups remain silent for a day.

Animal Rights groups have their “meat out” days.

They are generally praised for their “creative” and “thought provoking” methods of raising awareness for their cause.

I wonder how the main-stream media feels about these guys.

Yeah, that’s right. Students in Penn State, Miami University of Ohio, Seattle Pacific University and other schools wore empty holsters to school all week to protest campus policies that outright ignore state law and prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons.

The campaign, run by Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, lasted all week, and was intended to bring awareness to policies that prevent students from being armed and able to defend themselves on campus. These students argue that one armed student or professor could have stopped the Virginia Tech massacre last April.

What did the morons at the Brady Campaign say to this?

“You don’t like the fact that you can’t have a gun on your college campus? Drop out of school”

No one should be forced to choose between civil rights and education, but I digress.

Even if the main-stream media does not praise these students for bravely standing up for the bill of rights (nothing like using the first amendment to defend the second), we do. Good job, guys! Keep up the fight!

Guess this makes me (and the NRA) a domestic terrorist?

I got this link from a friend at the NRA.

Its a website for PA Aware, a site that claims to be “an online training course to help you understand the threat to our society”.

It claims that domestic terrorist groups are anti government groups (correct so far), who hold beliefs against the government. They then list some of those beliefs. Top of the list is this:

Gun Control is a conspiracy to enslave us starting with the removal of our ability to either defend ourselves or forcefully change our government.

Yeah, you read that right. This site says that groups who oppose gun control because it takes away the rights of law abiding citizens to defend themselves are domestic terrorists.Ha. That’s one thing I have never been accused of before (except for that one time in 8th grade with the stink bomb, but I digress).I wonder, does this same logic (the logic that the first ten amendments to the constitution, all of them, including the second and third, apply to everyone, all the time) make the ACLU a terrorist group for opposing time, place and manner restrictions on speech? Or does it make anti-death penalty groups, who claim that the 5th amendment due process clause in fact forbids capital punishment “dangerous dissidents”?

Look, the fact is, domestic terrorist groups are almost, if not just as dangerous as al Queda and other religious extremists. Criminals who conspire to commit seditious acts should be arrested, charged and imprisoned. There is no reason why, though, PA Aware or any other group has to make statements that lump law abiding americans who hold (an apparently “dissident”) political opinion in with crazy groups in camo-painted pickup trucks.

This is the type of ignorant propaganda that tries to convince people that gun control stops crime. I have more on that on my next entry.Author’s Note: My next entry will discuss the Supreme Court’s opinion in Haynes v U.S. in 1968, which ruled that felons cannot be compelled to register their firearms because doing so will cause them to be forced to incriminate themselves, in violation of the 5th amendment.

The Left, at URI and Everywhere Else, Has No Sense of Humor

As a white-male in pursuing higher education, I can attest to the lack of proportionality in scholarships and awards for those of us who are a bit “WASPy.” Check this FOXNews article out that shows you can’t even joke about it.

This article also shows the unfettered hypocrisy of the left. The liberal left is only for free speech when it fits the template of their agenda. This scholarship parody is uncomfortable for the left because it is based on fact. The obviously left-leaning Student Senate (mirroring the US Senate in worldview and absurdity) did its best to play the role of “thought police.” Fortunately, URI’s president has a lick of common sense, and at least a general grasp of the First Amendment. Sadly, I cannot say the same for the URI Student Senate. Although, they with no common sense or constitutional knowledge, they will have brilliant careers ahead of them as liberal politicians

Iranian “Justice”

Another piece of insanity from my favorite insane nation out there: Iran.  Eighteen grisly murders justified because the victims were participating in “un-Islamic activities.”  I am certainly curious as to what an “un-Islamic activity” is.  I don’t know about you, but a country with a judicial system this irrational certainly sounds like a nation wise enough to handle nuclear power; or as G.W Bush says “nu-cu-lare” power.  But before I get too judgmental, at least the murderers may be liable for monetary damages.  I do not mean to lecture, but insanity like this is why we need to be educated about the risks of radical Islam.  Unfortunately, most Americans are simply tired of hearing about it.  I would rather not speculate as to what it will take for us to wake up and realize that the threat to our safety has not been neutralized.
